Healthy Google Doodle - Webber Naturals

WRITTEN BY  Ana Patrícia- 19 September 2011

Google and Webber Naturals remembers a person that made waves in health research: Albert Szent-Györgyi

Credited with the discovery of vitamin C, Albert Szent-Györgyi would have turned 118 years old this past September 16th.

In memory of the Hungarian scientist, Google adorned its homepage logo with vitamin C rich foods, with two bright big oranges up front and centre. Aside from discovering vitamin C, Szent-Györgyi is also credited with discovering the components and reactions of the citric acid cycle.

Get to know more about this 1937 Nobel Peace Prize winner and the last Friday's Google doodle. And here's is some quick information on the discovery of the all important vitamin C.

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin and you can never get too much! It's an essential nutrient and a vital antioxident that our system needs. So don't forget to take your vitamin C! If you're not a fan of oranges (like myself, I must admit), there are plenty of other sources: strawberries, asparagus, papaya, orange juice (which I do like strangely enough), grapefruit juice, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, green peppers and lemons. Although, I don't really suggest eating lemons by themselves. Those lemons have a pretty sour bite!

You can also get some vitamin C supplements if you're not a fan of anything on that list. We've got a lot of options for you to choose from. Cheers friends!
