Advanced Info

Coenzyme Q10 is an essential antioxidant nutrient needed by the body to support cellular energy and heart health. CoQ10 may help enhance levels of antioxidant enzymes, has been used to help prevent migraines, and may also offer support for muscle pain associated with CoQ10 depletion.

CoQ10, also known as ubiquinone, is a naturally occurring compound in the body. Natural CoQ10 synthesis declines with age and due to lifestyle factors, and levels can also be depleted by certain medications, including statins.

The heart is the most active muscle in the body and, since CoQ10 is an important nutrient needed for cellular energy, it makes sense that we need a good level of CoQ10 to support heart health. Supplemental CoQ10 may also help reduce muscle pain associated with the depletion of the nutrient, such as in some individuals on statin medications.

CoQ10 has been seen in studies to help reduce the frequency of migraine headaches and associated nausea and vomiting when taken as a prophylactic.

CoQ10 200 mg from Webber Naturals is a non-GMO formula providing a daily dose of this important nutrient alongside rice bran oil and natural vitamin E to ensure optimal absorption and bioavailability.

frequently asked questions

  1. What is the source of the CoQ10 – is it natural? (what is CoQ10 made out of)
The coenzyme Q10 ingredient used in our products is naturally fermented by microorganisms (bacteria and/or yeast). This purified, high grade, natural form of coenzyme Q10 has the same molecular configuration (“trans” form) as the coenzyme that is produced in your own body.
  2. Do you use ubiquinone or ubiquinol for your CoQ10 products? (ubiquinol vs ubiquinone)
Coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant molecule that functions by switching back and forth between oxidation states – this is the essential role it plays in every mitochondria of every cell in the body to provide energy. CoQ10 exists in two forms in the body: ubiquinone and ubiquinol. Ubiquinone is the oxidized form of CoQ10 and ubiquinol is the reduced form. Our products labelled as “Coenzyme Q10” use the ubiquinone form of CoQ10.
  3. Why do I have to consult a physician prior to using CoQ10 if I’m on blood thinners? (CoQ10 and blood thinners)
Coenzyme Q10 is similar in chemical structure to vitamin K and therefore carries a risk for interfering with vitamin K-antagonist drugs (coumarins), including warfarin (Coumadin). While there is no known interaction between antiplatelet medications like Aspirin (ASA) or Plavix (clopidogrel), we recommend speaking to your physician before using 100 mg or more of coenzyme Q10 per day.
  4. Are there any animal ingredients in your CoQ10 products? (what is CoQ10 made out of)
Beef gelatin is used for the capsule material and is the only animal ingredient in these formulations.
