Le curcuma est depuis longtemps utilisé à des fins médicinales, surtout pour traiter les affections inflammatoires, dont l'arthrose.[19]

Qu'on la prenne sous forme de supplément ou dans les aliments, la curcumine, l'ingrédient actif du curcuma, est très difficilement absorbée par le corps.
