6 Crazy Delicious Spring Smoothie Recipes

Spring is in the air, and with that comes fresh fruits and vegetables at both farmers markets and grocery stores. It is the perfect time to experiment with some seasonal smoothie flavours!

We always associate good nutrition with “eating the rainbow”, our new take on this is to “drink the rainbow”. Incorporating everything from strawberries and blueberries to avocados and spinach are important to building a delicious smoothie. The key to a balanced winning smoothie is to make sure that this fibre-filled drink has staying power (will keep you filled) by pairing it with protein (like protein powder, milk, or yogurt).

Here are some of my favourite smoothies for each colour of the rainbow!

Strawberry Beet Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cooked red beet large (1 cup frozen)
  • 1 cup strawberries (frozen is best)
  • 1 medium banana
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • ½ to 1 cup almond milk (or milk of choice)

Instructions:

1. Place all ingredients inside of a blender.
2. On med-high, blend until smooth.
3. Serve immediately.
4. Enjoy!


Tropical Sunshine Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 mango
  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • ½ to 1 cup almond milk (or milk of choice)

Instructions:

1. Place all ingredients into a blender.
2. On med-high, blend until smooth.
3. Serve immediately.
4. Enjoy!


Blue Spirulina Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup coconut milk (or milk of choice)
  • 1 medium frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut
  • 2 tsp blue spirulina
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder

Instructions:

1. Place all ingredients into a blender.
2. On med-high, blend until smooth.
3. Serve immediately.
4. Enjoy!


Fresh orange smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 2 large oranges, peeled and quartered
  • ¾ cup almond milk
  • 1 medium banana
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup ice, optional

Instructions:

1. Place all ingredients into a blender.
2. On med-high, blend until smooth.
3. Serve immediately.
4. Enjoy!


Mean Green Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cup Almond milk (or milk of choice)
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 1 medium frozen banana
  • 1 apple
  • 1/4 avocado
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder

Instructions:

1. Place all ingredients into a blender.
2. On med-high, blend until smooth.
3. Serve immediately.
4. Enjoy!


Purple Monster Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Almond milk (or milk of choice)
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder

Instructions:

1. Place all ingredients into a blender.
2. On med-high, blend until smooth.
3. Serve immediately.
